INSTALLING THE BATTERY In the event of a power loss, a 9-volt alkaline battery (not included) enables the answerer to retain messages stored in memory. To install the battery: 1. Remove the battery compartment door on the bottom of the unit by loosening the screw with a Phillips screwdriver. Lift the door. 2. Connect a fresh 9-volt alkaline battery (not included). PLAYING MESSAGES When the message indicator flashes slowly you have received new messages. Messages play back in first received-first played order. If there are new messages, the unit plays new messages first, followed by old messages. If using remote access, the unit plays all messages, new and old, in first-received-first played order. Auto Disconnect tells the unit to stop playing the greeting or recording a message when an extension phone is picked up.
