The engine must be filled with the correct grade of oil and petrol before starting. Oil Type FILLER CAP/DIPSTICK Always use high quality detergent oil classified SAE 10W-30. Never use additives with recommended oil. To prolong the life of your engine it is important that the oil is MAX changed after the first 5 hours of use - refer to ‘

Hold the handlebar together with the engine stop lever, place your foot on the deck and tilt the mower towards you. This will take the load off the engine making it easier to start. Pull the starter grip lightly until you feel resistance, then pull briskly. Return the starter grip gently. Do not allow the starter grip to snap back against the engine.
