1 CHAPTER ONE Introduction 1 Using This Manual Thank you for purchasing a Brother multifunction centre (MFC). This MFC is a 6 in 1 Multi-Function Centre: Colour Printer, Colour Copier, Colour Scanner, Plain Paper Fax, Colour PC Fax (via your PC) and Video Capture. INTRODUCTION 3 The fax “handshake” is the time in which the sending machine’s CNG tones and the receiving machines “chirps” overlap. This must be for at least 2 to 4 seconds, so the fax machines can understand how each is sending and receiving the fax. The handshake cannot begin until the call is answered, and the CNG tones only last for about 40 seconds after the number is dialled. CHAPTER TWO 8 Choosing a Location Place your MFC on a flat, stable surface, such as a desk. Select a place that is free of vibration and shocks. Locate the MFC near a telephone socket and a standard, earthed electrical socket. Choose a location where the temperature remains between 10°C and 35°C (50°–95°F). MFC SETU P A ND CONNECTIONS 9 Loading Paper in the Multi-Purpose Paper Cassette Before you install paper, please read chapter 3. 2 The paper cassette can hold up to 250 sheets of paper (75 g/m ). Remove the paper cassette (lift up and pull out). 1 Remove the cassette cover. 2 Adjust the cassette to the letter (A4/LTR) or legal position for the 3 size of paper you are using.
