INGLENOOK FIREPLACE OPERATION FUEL The Inglenook should be fueled with seasoned cordwood. Hardwoods will provide more energy per pound of wood consumed because of its superior density when compared to softwood. COMBUSTION CONTROL The Inglenook is not designed to operate with a flue damper. As is standard practice with hi-tech high efficiency fireplaces, the Inglenook combustion air damper controls all air entering the firebox. This combustion air damper allows the owner more precise control of the fire by accurately controlling the air available for combustion. MAINTAINING YOUR INGLENOOK FIREPLACE CREOSOTE When wood is burned slowly, it produces tar and other organic vapors which combine with expelled moisture to form a black deposit called creosote.
