Before you start! Using this handbook This handbook has been designed to give you all the information you need to install, connect, set-up and use the Arcam DiVA DV79. The remote control handset supplied with the equipment is also described. It may be that the DV79 has been installed and set-up as part of your Hi-Fi installation by a qualifi ed Arcam dealer. Disc types supported The ARCAM DV79 DVD-player plays a range of disc types. Discs entered into the DV79 should bear one of the logos shown on the right. The HDMI interface If you have a HDMI- or DVI-equipped monitor or display, you can connect it to the DV79 using a HDMI cable. The HDMI connector carries uncompressed digital video, as well as digital audio. Analogue Video This setting controls the type of video given out on the Component and SCART video outputs. It is set at the factory to be appropriate for the type of display device used in your country, so it is best not to change it. Compression Allows compression of the audio stream to be turned on or off, where ‘On’ is intended for ‘late night’ listening when large volume changes are not desirable. Turning compression on increases the volume of the quiet passages and decreases the volume of the louder passages, i.e., the total dynamic range of the audio is reduced.
