The transmitter emits an electrical impulse, which the transducer con- verts into a sound wave and sends into the water. (The sound frequency can't be heard by humans or fish.) The other key GPS use for MMCs is storage of special high-detail, cus- tom maps, which you can produce on your computer with our MapCre- ate software. These MapCreate custom maps contain much greater de- tail than the basic background map. A minimum of three satellites are required to determine a 2D fix. The system requires signal reception from three satellites in order to determine a position. This is called a 2D fix.
