Chapter 1: Introduction 1.4 OVERVIEW The HSIM-G extends the functionality of certain Cabletron Systems interface modules or standalone devices by providing high-speed uplink capability through Gigabit Ethernet technology. Installing an HSIM-G 2.2.2 Installing an HSIM-G in a Standalone Device To install an HSIM-G into a standalone device (e.g., 2E42-27), perform the following steps: 1. Power down the device and remove the power cord. To install the HSIM-G in a standalone device, the device must first be powered down. Ensure that you remove the power cord and ONLY the screws required to remove the chassis cover. 2. Disconnect any cables connected to the network ports of the device. Note the ports that have cables
