The amount of GPS data you can record and save for recall later is limited only by the number and size of MMC cards you have. NOTICE! The storage temperature range for your IntelliMap 640c is from -4 degrees to +167 degrees Fahrenheit (-20 degrees to +75 degrees Celsius). The background map is suitable for many navigation chores, but for maximum accuracy and much more detail, you need our optional map- making software, MapCreate 6, or one of our special plug-and-play mapping cards. Some unit features — such as searching for businesses and addresses — won't work without a custom MapCreate map. The system requires signal reception from three satellites in order to determine a position. This is called a 2D fix. It takes four satellites to determine both position and elevation (your height above sea level — also called altitude). This is called a 3D fix. Remember, the unit must have a clear view of the satellites in order to receive their signals. Unlike radio or television signals, GPS works at very high frequencies.
