1. Introduction “Inline power” is a feature offered on some Ethernet switches. It is a means by which the switch can supply power to a network device within the same cable that carries the Ethernet signaling. This simplifies network installation and powering design, removing the need for a separate power supply for each IP telephone in the network. Note the power limit is set to 15.4 watts for ports 1 and 2, and 7 watts for port 3, since both the 4620 and 4612 IP telephones are class 3 devices and the 4602SW IP phone is a class 1 device. 4. Verification Steps The following steps can be used to verify proper connection, configuration, and powering of Avaya IP telephones. Steps Description 1.
