Proper Handling - Signal Reception Clear View of the Sky. Because the receiver attains information it needs from satellites orbiting the earth, the antenna needs to have a relatively unobstructed view of the sky. This allows the receiver to choose from all satellites currently available. Selecting Primary Usage A screen will be displayed asking your primary use for your receiver, MARINE or LAND. The default is MARINE. ENTER You have completed the Initialization. Getting a Fixed Position Now you should go outside in an area where you can get a clear view of the sky. The receiver will begin acquiring data from the satellites in view and will display the progress on the STATUS screen.
