Chapter 1: Managing the Switch Configuration Options The CheetahSwitch Workgroup-4508 provides a menu-driven system configuration program that can be accessed through a direct console connection or modem connection to the serial port on the switch’s rear panel (out-of-band), or by a Telnet connection over the network (in-band). The ASCII interface to this program can be accessed by making a direct connection to the serial port on the rear panel, or by a Telnet connection to the switch over the network. Management Guide Telnet Connection Prior to accessing the switch via an in-band Telnet connection, you must first configure it with a valid IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway using an out-of-band connection or BOOTP protocol. After configuring the switch’s IP parameters, you can access the on-board configuration program from anywhere within the attached network. Note: Up to four Telnet sessions are supported.
