Using the Glass Platen You can use the glass platen to fax one page at a time or pages of a book. Documents can be A4 or letter size (21.6 cm to 29.6 cm). To use the glass platen, the Automatic Document Feeder must be empty. Connecting an External Telephone Answering Device (TAD) Sequence When you have an external TAD on the same telephone line as the machine, the TAD answers all calls. The machine “listens” for fax calling (CNG) tones. If it hears them, the machine takes over the call and receives the fax.
