Software description The User’s Guide and Software CD contains the following software: v IBM RecordNow: With RecordNow, you can record your own CDs in a variety of ways. Handling precautions Use the following handling precautions to protect your drive: v Keep the CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combination Drive in the antistatic bag until you are ready to install the drive. Limit your movement when installing; movement can cause static electricity buildup. v Handle the drive with care. Use the following guidelines to determine the correct configuration for your CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combination Drive. v Configure the CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combination Drive as a master if it will be the only device that is connected to the IDE cable. Step 4. Selecting an IDE connector Newer computers typically have two IDE connectors. If your computer has two IDE connectors, use the secondary IDE connector to connect the CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combination Drive. Typically the secondary IDE connector is adjacent to the primary IDE connector that connects to your hard disk drive. The IDE connector you select and the cable position you select will determine which configuration jumper setting you will use for the drive. v If you have two IDE connectors,

DLA is used to make file archives and data CDs that can be altered many times. It also provides the convenience of direct drive-letter access. When used with CD-RW media, DLA is very much like using a floppy diskette to store files.
