Defrosting If the frost on the freezer walls reaches a thickness of 6mm or greater, the freezer requires defrosting. It should not be necessary to defrost the freezer more than once every few months and the defrosting process is best carried out when the stock of food is at a low level. Defrosting Before defrosting, turn the thermostat to the lowest temperature setting “6” for about four hours.
