Chapter 2: Playing Videocassettes and Discs DVD Basics Regional Coding Both the DVD/VCP player and the discs are coded by region. These regional codes must match in order for the disc to play. If the codes don’t match, the disc won’t play. This unit’s code is region 1. Discs with other regional codes can’t be played in this unit. Since this unit plays DVDs according to the disc contents the software producers designed, some playback features may not be available. Refer to the instructions packed with the DVDs for information. The disc menu might only contain a list of the titles and chapters, or it may allow you to change features such as language and playback settings.
