Introduction 1 In a SCSI-2 system, a computer with a host-adapter serves as the primary initiator for all actions on the SCSI bus. All other devices connected to the bus are SCSI targets. Figure 1-2 above illustrates a simple configuration where a host computer is connected to a single target, a disk drive with an embedded SCSI controller. Introduction to SCSI-2 1 The SCSI-2 architecture allows for multiple devices on the bus where more than one host computer can communicate with more than one target at a time. They can be daisy-chained together in a narrow configuration using a 50-conductor, 8-bit cable to connect up to 8 SCSI devices on the bus.
