Consider first page out time, engine speed including high resolution printing speed and double sided printing speed to get a true picture of real-world throughput capabilities. EVALUATE RELIABILITY The volume demands on a departmental printer can be very high. Consider the life expectancy of a printer as well as its peak volume capability. Consider uptime. Does the printer provide warnings for low supplies or other potential productivity blockers? Are there intelligent alternatives to a service call? EVALUATE COST-OF-OWNERSHIP Initial cost of a printer is just one part of what your costs will be over the life of the printer. Consider cost per page.
