Infrared Thermometers Introduction The 566 and 568 Infrared Thermometers (“the thermometers”) are for non- contact temperature measurement. These thermometers determine an object’s surface temperature by measuring the amount of infrared energy radiated by the object’s surface. Infrared Thermometers How the Thermometers Work How the Thermometers Work Infrared thermometers measure the surface temperature of an object. The thermometer’s optics sense emitted, reflected, and transmitted energy, which is collected and focused onto a detector.
