Basic steps for cleaning Vacuum carpet thoroughly to remove loose dirt. 4 Test detergent for colorfastness on a hidden area of carpet or upholstery. 4 Pretreat spots, stains and high traffic areas with MAYTAG Spot and Stain Spray.
