4.2 This battery charger is for use on a nominal 20-volt circuit and has a grounding plug that looks like the plug illustrated in Figure A. A temporary adapter, which looks like the adapter illustrated in Figures B and C, may be used to connect this plug to a two-pole receptacle as shown in Figure B, if a properly grounded outlet is not available. 2.2 SERIES CHARGING Batteries of the same type and voltage rating may be connected in series for charging. The char- ger’s VOLTAGE setting equals the sum of the individual battery voltages and the current through each equals the amount of charge showing on the ammeter. Example: Charging two 2-volt batteries in series requires a 24-volt charger (VOLTAGE) setting. If the ammeter shows 30 amps, each battery will be getting a 30-amp charge. 13.
