Types of user accounts The cooling unit has three levels of access (Administrator, Device User, and Read-Only User), all of which are protected by user name and password requirements. • An Administrator can use all of the management menus available in the control console and the Web interface. How to Recover from a Lost Password Use a local computer, a computer that connects to the cooling unit through the serial port, to access the control console. 1. Select a serial port at the local computer and disable any service that uses that port. 2. Connect the configuration cable (APC part number 940-0103 and extension, if required, 940- 1000A) to the selected port on the computer and to the serial port at the cooling unit (use the DB- 9 connector on the front of the electrical panel). Control Console How to Log On Overview You can use either a local (serial) connection, or a remote (Telnet or SSH) connection to access the control console. Use case-sensitive user name and password entries to log on (by default, apc and apc for an Administrator, or device and apc for a Device User). A Read-Only User cannot access the control console.
