The Print Controller Memory Configuration Most of the print controller memory is used for rasterizing the image. A small portion (~2.7 MB) is used for the system operation. The basic print controller configuration includes 32 MB of RAM. Even with 16 MB, 1-bit mode printing at 400 dpi is available on all paper sizes. By replacing the standard 32 MB DIMM, the print controller may be upgraded to 64 MB (standard) to allow 8.5"x11" grayscale printing; or 128 MB (optional) to allow 11"x17" or A3 grays
