1 Introduction 1.1 Equipment Requirements and Specifications Thank you for purchasing the SIMM (Single Inline Memory Module) for Intelligent Printer Data Stream (IPDS). This provides your printer with high quality IBM host connectivity print output. With the appropriate adapter and host software, your printer becomes an IBM host workstation printer capable of printing AFP or IPDS documents from an AS/400 , System/370, System/390 , or System/36. 2 Installation 2.1 Before Installing the SIMM for IPDS Installing the new SIMM for IPDS may restore the printer’s default menu settings. Follow the instructions in the following section to print out the current user default settings and installed printer options before installing the new SIMM for IPDS. Save the printed sheet(s) for reference as you may want to refer to these settings in the future. Refer to your printer User’s Guide if you need information about factory defaults. Note: Ins

2.3 Installing the SIMM for IPDS Warning: The SIMM for IPDS is easily damaged by static electricity. Make sure to touch the printer’s metal cabinet before handling the SIMM or wear an anti-static wrist strap. Follow these instructions to install the SIMM: 1. Unpack the SIMM for IPDS. Avoid touching the connection points along the edge of the card. Your card may vary in appearance. Save the packing materials. 2. Check the printer model and SIMM to be sure you install the SIMM in the correc

3. Turn the printer power OFF (O) and unplug the printer power cord. 4. Disconnect all cables from the back of the printer. 5. You must access the printer system board. Refer to your printer User's Guide and follow the instructions on how to access the printer system board. After accessing the system board proceed to step 6. 6.
