Induction The induction principle An induction coil is located under each cooking zone. When a cooking zone is switched on, this coil creates a magnetic field which impacts directly on the base of the pan and heats it up. The cooking zone itself is heated up indirectly by the heat given off by the pan. An induction cooking zone only works when a ferromagnetic pan is placed on it (see "Pans"). Induction automatically recognises the size of the pan, i.e. heat is only generated in the area covered
