PILOT AND MAIN BURNER FLAME CHARACTERISTICS Pilot Flame Pattern (Figure 9) Figure 8 shows a correct pilot flame pattern. The correct flame will be blue and will extend beyond the thermocouple/thermopile. The flame will surround the thermocouple/thermopile just below the tip.
