Equipment Placement and Rack Mounting The NVR5100 can be placed on a flat surface, such as a desktop, or mounted in an equipment rack. UNPACKING THE NVR5100 The NVR5100 recorder ships with two smaller boxes as shown in Figure 6: one contains the hard drive pack, the other contains the accessory pack. RACK MOUNTING The NVR5100 mounts into an industry-standard 19-inch (48 cm) equipment rack. The NVR5100 occupies three rack units (5.25 in. or 13.3 cm) of vertical rack space. Hard Drive Array Installation The NVR5100 stores data using RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) technology. All NVR5100 Series recorders operate in a RAID 5 configuration to maximize fault tolerance and enhance disk-access performance.
