9) PHANTOM POWER. This switch is for the 48 volts needed for most solid state condensor mics. It is not generally needed for tube mics, dynamic mics, ribbon mics and in some cases may be harmful to some old vintage ribbon mics. ADJUSTMENTS MIX GAINS: There is a single trimmer on each tube board to set the summing amp gain. It adjusts the amount of negative feedback from a special tertiary winding on the output transformer back to the first tube stage cathodes. These trims are located near the top of each tube board, between the tubes. TROUBLE-SHOOTING There are a number of possible symptoms of something not quite right, some may be interfacing, others we will touch on as well. IT MAKES NOISES WHEN THE FRONT PANEL IS TAPPED - An easy one. Some tubes become microphonic over time. That means they start acting like a bad microphone.
