THUMB OPERATION The mechanical thumb is used for grabbing objects and securing them between the thumb and the bucket. Become familiar with the geometry and extra weight the thumb adds to the backhoe before operating. Large heavy objects such as rocks and logs can increase momentum when pivoting backhoe to the side.
