Preparing Your Phone For Use Inserting a SIM Card 1. Turn the phone over, and release the battery latch. Lift the battery off the phone. Battery latch Do not remove the battery when the phone is on. 8 The PIN (Personal Identification Number) is a password provided by a network operator with a SIM card. You need this password in order to use the SIM card. If you enter the PIN incorrectly 3 times in a row, the SIM card will lock down and no longer be usable.
